Voila...Je me suis equipee pour l'ete... reste plus qu'une chose: trouver le soleil!

Happy Birthday Vic - ok, c'etait vendredi, mais bon... on l'a fete aujourd'hui en famille!

Happy Birthday VIc - ok, it was on Friday, but well... we celebrated it today with the family!

Le ciel s'est assombrit ce soir, mais ce n'est pas grave, car on a passe une tres bonne journee. Apres mon jogging (5km), j'ai fait un peu de rangement dans le jardin... Donc maintenant, on a des herbes appetissantes... j'ai ramasse les dernieres feuilles de l'hiver. Devant la maison, il y a meme un oiseau en train de couver dans la haie. Je ne l'ai pas derange, mais longtemps, je l'ai observe... Et puis le ciel etait si beau, il faisait bon, alors apres la sieste de NathaN, on est alle direct au parc, pour prendre le biberon (au fait, je n'allaite plus apres 6 mois et 1 semaine!). Mon homme nous a rejoint la-bas, et on s'est bien promene dans le parc et les rues environnantes. On a admirer les grandes maisons en briques rouges (comme la notre, mais en beaucoup plus grand), et puis les beaux jardins, bien entretenus... et on s'est pris a revasser... mais non, on est vraiment bien dans notre maison a nous (elle est bien assez grande pour nous 3!) En rentrant, on a enfin ressorti la table de jardin du sous-sol, j'ai nettoye les chaises en plastiques, et on a goute dehors. NathaN a meme decouvert les graviers: il semblait bien surpris par ce nouveau concept: "je suis assis sur un sol qui bouge et qui s'emiette!" Le petit bonhomme continue de decouvrir et d'explorer le monde qui l'entoure. Il s'entraine a fond pour le 4 pattes, et ca ne saurait tarder...

The sky is getting darker this evening, but it doesn't matter, because we've had a great day. After my morning run (5k), I tidied the garden a little... So now, we have a nice herb section (they are a lot more appetising than the old herbs from last year!)... I picked up the last leaves from the winter. At the front of the house, there is even a bird sitting on its eggs in the hedge. I didn't disturbit, but for a while, I just looked at it... And the sky was so beautiful, the air warm, so after NathaN's nap, we went straight to the park, and he had his bottle (by the way, I've stopped breastfeeding after 6 months and 1 week!) My man joined us there, and we went for a walk in the park and the local area. We had a good look at the big houses made of red bricks (like ours, but much bigger), and their beautifully kept gardens... and we dreamt of a place...but no, we really love our house (it's more than big enough for us 3!). When we came back, we got the garden table out of the basement at last, I cleaned the garden chairs, and we had a little snack "al fresco"! NathaN has now discovered pebbles: he seemed rather surprised by this new concept: "I'm sitting on a moving ground, which is crumbling away!" Our little boy continues to discover and explore the world around him. He practising crawling with dedication, and he can't be far...

...on n'a pas arrete!

Quelle journee bien remplie! Ce n'est pas toujours evident de trouver le bon equilibre en une journee entre les choses "Qu'ondoitfaire", celles "Qu'onveutfaire", celles "Qu'onavaitoubliees et celles "Qu'onn'avaitpasprevues". Une conversation toute bete a la sortie de Baby Sensory a bien des consequences: ca nous rallentit avant d'aller au supermarche, et ca veut dire que le dejeune de NathaN etait en retard sur la table - et il n'a pas aime ca! Des larmes, et des larmes...Ah, Maman, tu apprendras a etre mieux organisee!!!

Heureusement, l'apres-midi a ete plus detendu: apres une petite balade sous la pluie (bienvenue en Angleterre!), Amelia et NathaN ont joue ensemble. Puis, nous avons retrouve Fiona et Becky au cafe du coin, pour boire un bon chocolat chaud (rien de tel pour contrer le froid). Le week-end se profile devant nous. Mon homme a droit a 3 jours - et oui, en Angleterre, tous les jours feries tombent un Lundi :) Donc le premier lundi de mai est toujours ferie. Nous avons prevu de faire un peu de jardinage, je vais courir demain matin, dimanche on fete l'anniversaire de Tatavic (c'est aujourd'hui), et lundi, on espere aller a la fete du parc.

Today...we haven't stopped!

What a full day we've had! It's not always easy to find the right balanced within one day between the things "Wemustdo", those "Wewanttodo", the ones "Wehadforgotten" and those "Wehadn'tplanned". A little conversation at the end of Baby Sensory can have lots of consequences: it slowed us down before getting to the supermarket, and it meant that NathaN's lunch was late on the table  - and he didn't like it! Tears and more tears... Ah, Maman, you'll learn to be better organised!!!

Fortunately, the afternoon was more relaxed: after a short walk in the rain (welcome to England!), Amelia and NathaN had a good time playing together. Then, we met up with Fiona and Becky at our local coffee shop, to drink a hot chocolate (what's better when the weather is so grim?). The week-end ahead looks promising. My man has 3 days off - in England, all the Bank Holidays are on a Monday :) So the first Monday of May is always a Bank Holiday. We're planning to do a bit of gardening, I'm going running tomorrow morning, Sunday, we're celebrating AuntieVic's birthday (it's today), and on Monday, we're hoping to go to the Park Fair.

Et voila, c'est un fait...le Tetard ressemble de moins en moins a un Tetard... et je crois qu'il est tant d'appeler un Chat un Chat...donc parlons de Nathan!

A 6 mois,

• il pese 6,46kg
• il mange des bonnes purees faite par maman
• il peut se tenir assi sans aide (mais la pesanteur aidant...il se retrouve par terre!)
• il adore ses pieds (surtout quand il y en a un dans sa bouche!)
• il prend presque tous ses repas au biberon (seule reste la tetee du matin - mais pas pour lontemps, car je pense qu'il ne mange pas assez a ce moment la...)
• il prend ses repas dans sa superbe chaise haute (merci Mamie Huguette)
• il se met a 4 pattes, et essaie d'avancer - mais pour l'instant c'est du sur-place
• il peut passer une soiree sans maman - mais ca fait du bien de se retrouver le lendemain!
• il n'a plus besoin du siege bebe quand il prend son bain (dans la petite baignoire)
• il a decouvert l'herbe verte du jardin de PapiCo et du parc pres de la maison

Here it is, it's a fact: the Tadpole looks less and less like a tadpole... and I guess it's time to call a Spade a Spade... so let's talk about Nathan!

At 6 months,

• he weighs 14.04lbs
• he eats yummy purees made by his Mummy
• he can sit unaided ...(but gravity "helping" he ends up on the floor!)
• he loves his feet (especially when there's one in his mouth)
• he has nearly all his meals from the bottle (he only breastfeed in the morning - but that won't last long, because I don't think that he eats enough on that occasion)
• he has his meals in his lovely high chair (thank you Mamie Huguette)
• he goes on all four, and tries to move forwar - but for the moment, he remains on the spot
• he can spend a whole evening without his mum
• he doesn't need the baby seat when he has a bath (in his little bath)
• he has discovered the green grass of PapiCo's garden and in the park near the house

Quelques jours sans poster...il faut se rattrapper...pendant la journee, il y a plein de moments ou je me dis "tiens - parfais pour le blog" et puis le moment passe, on oublie, ou on ne trouve pas les mots, on a pas le visuel...et le post ne s'affiche pas...

Donc pour resumer: J'ai rencontre Magalie et son petit Raphael lundi matin, et elle m'a propose d'aller aux "Grenouilles" - c'est un club pour les mamans et les enfants francais. Alors mardi apres-midi, on etait au rendez-vous et nous sommes alles rencontrer nos compatriotes qui habitent au sud de Manchester. On a passe un tres bon moment; j'ai hate d'y retourner pour faire plus ample connaissance avec la dizaine de mamans presentes. Les enfants jouent tous ensemble, et le temps de 2 heures, on n'entend pas un mot d'anglais....le bonheur!

Et puis hier, je suis encore allee courir. Cette fois-ci, j'ai courru pres de 45 min sans m'arreter malgre les cotes!!! J'ai couvert environ 6km. Je suis vraiment contente. Samedi matin, je retournerai a Bramhall Park pour faire 5 km avec d'autres jeunes mamans.

Ah, j'oubliais...j'ai passe une mega commande chez La Redoute - histoire de commencer a porter des vetements qui font du bien au moral apres tout ces mois de rondeurs... J'ai hate de recevoir mon collis.

A few days without blogging... I must catch up... throughout the day, there are lots of moments when I say "great - perfect for the blog" and the moment passes, I forget, or I can't find the words, I don't have the image... and the post isn't posted...

So to summarize: I met Magalie and her little Raphael on Monday morning, and she suggested to go together to "Les Grenouilles" - a club for French mums and their kids. So on Tuesday afternoon, we went there, and we met up with other Frenchies from South Manchester. We had a great time; I can't wait to go back to get to know the mums a bit better. The children play together and during a couple of hours, you don't get to hear a word of English...bliss!

And yesterday, I went running again. This time, I ran nearly 45 min non-stop (despite the hills!) I ran 6k! I'm really pleased with myself. Saturday morning, I'll go back to Bramhall Park for another 5k run with other new mums.

Le Tetard n'a pas encore 6 mois, et il se met deja a 4 pattes! Je suppose que ca veut dire qu'il faut ranger le salon... Il s'est assis vendredi dernier, mais depuis, il n'y a qu'une chose qui compte: son entrainement pour le 4 pattes! Il n'arrete pas - il n'a pas encore trouve la marche avant (ni la marche arriere), mais ca ne va pas tarder. Cet apres-midi, on est alles a Didsbury, et on a profite du grand soleil pour prendre un verre en terrasse avec Tata Vic.

The Tadpole isn't 6 months yet, and he is already getting onto the crawling position! I suppose that I'd better tidy the lounge... He sat down for the first time last Friday, but since then, only one thing matters: his crawling training! He cannot stop - he hasn't figured out how to go forward (nor backward), but it can't be too long. This afternoon, we went to Didsbury, and made the most of the sunshine: we had a drink at a terrasse with Auntie Vic.

Ca y est: mon petit Tetard est un grand garcon! Pour la premiere fois hier, il a mange autre chose que du bon lait maternel... Il a englouti 6 cuillieres de Baby Rice! Demain, on se met aux purees! Et puis ensuite, il a essaye de croquer dans la pomme de son pere ;)

Et puis ce matin, il est reste assis pour la premiere fois sans mon aide - pendant 2 min, puis il est tombe tete la premiere sur un sol assez dur (Je dois apprendre moi aussi a le proteger un minimum: c'est promis, on mettra un coussin la prochaine fois!)

Here we are: my little Tadpole is a big boy! For the first time yesterday, he ate something other than my good milk... He woolfed down 6 spoons of Baby Rice! Tomorrow, we're moving onto vegetable purees! And after that, he tried to eat his daddy's apple ;)

And this morning, he stayed sitting down for the first time unaided - for about 2 min, then he fell head first on a rather hard floor (I must also learn to protect him a minimum: promise, we'll put a pillow nearby next time!)
